The ProEmpower project is holding an online conference on 23 September 2020 10:00 – 11:30 CET. The conference will present latest developments directly from the ProEmpower project in using ICT to tackle the rising incidence of diabetes mellitus in Europe.

Two solutions have been developed in the project, aimed at improving the treatment and self-management of diabetes patients and supporting healthcare professionals in providing better care. The process followed is called a pre-commercial procurement (PCP) – a competitive phased R&D approach in which suppliers bid for and develop solutions addressing the unmet needs of healthcare providers (procurers).
Four healthcare providers from Italy, Spain, Turkey and Portugal have been testing the two solutions, with preliminary results indicating improvements in the quality of life of patients and in the management of their condition (reductions in glycated haemoglobin values ranging from 0.12 to 1.2% across pilot sites and solutions).
The conference is specifically aimed at sharing the ProEmpower results with further healthcare providers interested in implementing such solutions, as well as any other stakeholders interested in the topic. The project will be presented, followed by presentations of the two solutions, and the experiences and emerging results collected during the testing period.
